The Beginning
My journey into architecture began unexpectedly during a summer spent in rural Alentejo when I was nineteen. I'd gone there to help my uncle renovate an old farmhouse—crumbling stone walls, a collapsed roof, the remnants of centuries of agricultural life slowly being reclaimed by the landscape.
What started as manual labor became something else. I found myself sketching details between shifts—the way light moved across the walls at different hours, how the building seemed to grow from the earth itself, the logic behind decisions made by builders long dead. Each stone told a story of hands that had placed it, of seasons that had weathered it, of lives that had unfolded within these walls.
That summer taught me that architecture isn't just about creating shelter—it's about understanding how spaces shape experience, how materials age, how buildings can carry meaning across generations. I returned to Lisbon that fall and enrolled in architecture school, driven by questions I'm still exploring today.

Design Philosophy
Architecture, at its best, is a dialogue between light, material, and human experience. I believe buildings should emerge naturally from their context, responding to the land, the climate, and the rhythms of daily life.
My design process begins with listening—to the site, to my clients' aspirations, and to the quiet requirements of function. Only then do forms begin to take shape, guided by principles of simplicity, honesty, and restraint.
I favor natural materials that age gracefully, daylight that changes with the hours, and spaces that encourage contemplation. The goal is never to impose, but to reveal what a place wants to become.
